No.F. 1-2/2005-NVS(SA) Dated : 30.3.2005
Subject : Problem of indiscipline among the students of JNVs
Dear Principal,
We have been receiving complaints from various quarters regarding the problem of indiscipline among some students of JNVs. In order to address the problem, it is necessary to analyze the cause behind indiscipline. It is also noted that the degree of indiscipline among the students varies from State to State and Vidyalaya to Vidyalaya. It is a matter of great satisfaction to note that some Vidyalayas under the leadership of the Principals are able to maintain excellent discipline among the students. As Head of the institution, the Principal has to not only possess high moral standards but also display the qualities of leadership, honesty, sincerity, devotion to duty and build a team which is inclusive of all the staff and teachers.
In order to share the experience and best practices of the Vidyalayas in maintaining discipline among the students, it is desirable to undertake case studies. The practical experiences and efforts made by the Principals, Vice-Principals, teachers, Class Captains and the House Masters, etc. towards the improvement of discipline, may also be mentioned.
While I urge upon you to ensure maintenance of discipline in your Vidyalaya among the students, I would also like to have your experiences, suggestions and case reports to enable us to have common standards for enforcing discipline.

Sub : Prohibition of Gutka, Tobacco and other narcotics in JNVs
Sir/Madam,
Your attention is once again invited towards Samiti's letter No.F. 27/Misc./88-NVS(Admn.) dated 19.6.1990.
It has come in the notice of Samiti from inspection of Vidyalayas and various sources that said guidelines are not being followed seriously regarding prohibition of Gutka, Tobacco, Smoking & other narcotics - which is being viewed seriously. Hence Principals and teachers of Vidyalayas should set example in front of students so that compliance of orders can be ensured.
Since students spend their all time in Vidyalaya premises hence it is the moral responsibility of school administration that students should not become addict of such bad habits.
No objectionable item is to be sold near vidyalaya campus.
Special co-curricular activities/programmes should be organised in vidyalaya so that such thoughts can be infused in the minds of the students that use of these items is not only a social evil but it is also very dangerous for their health and future.
Kindly issue orders to all Principals & teachers of your region that use of such items is prohibited in vidyalaya premises, as far as possible such items may not be used by them anywhere else also.
Yours faithfully,
( N.C. Gupta )
Asstt. Director (SA)
