FROM SC/ST/OBC CATEGORIES FOR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS

 

 

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Govt. of India, invites applications in the prescribed format, from eligible Indian nationals for filling up of vacancies and for drawing a panel of candidates for the posts of Post Graduate Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers and Miscellaneous Categories of Trained Graduate Teachers on DIRECT RECRUITMENT BASIS in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas from candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories.

 

Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools up to Senior Secondary level and are located mainly in the Rural Areas. At present 512 JNVs are functioning all over the country. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, being fully residential institutions, the teachers are required to stay in the Vidyalaya campus.  In addition to normal teaching duties, the teachers are required to perform additional responsibilities attached with residential system of schooling like House Mastership, remedial and supervisory studies, organization of co-curricular activities, escorting of students on migration and looking after students’ welfare in general.  During the period of probation of the incumbent performance in all these areas is also assessed, in addition to the teaching ability to determine suitability for the job.

 

Details regarding essential and desirable qualifications for various categories of posts, Pay Scales, Age limit, Relaxation of age, Mode of Selection and other related details are given below.  Reservation for various categories viz. SC, ST, OBC & PH will be regulated as per Govt. instructions.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

 

Candidates applying for the post of TGT(Maths), TGT(Science) and TGT(Social Studies) should ensure before applying that they fulfill the following criteria for being eligible for consideration for appointment to these posts.

 

TGT(Maths)

 

1.      The candidate should have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry during all three years of graduation.

2.      In case of such Universities which provide for only two subjects out of the three as mentioned above, in the final year of graduation, the candidate should have studied Maths and Physics in the final year of examination and all the three subjects, viz, Maths, Physics and Chemistry in the first and second years of graduation.

3.      Candidates who have passed B.Sc. degree with Honours in Maths subject would be considered eligible only if they have studied Physics and Chemistry in first and second year of the course.  Candidates with B.Sc.(Hons.) in Physics or Chemistry are not eligible for the post of TGT(Maths).

4.      Candidate should also have secured 50% marks in aggregate individually in these subjects during all the years of study.

5.      Candidate should have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in the graduation degree also.

 

TGT(Science)

 

1.      The candidate should have studied Botany, Zoology and Chemistry during all the three years of study in graduation.

2.      In case of such Universities which provide for only two subjects in the final year of graduation, the candidates should have studied any of the two subjects out of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in the final year of examination and all the three subjects, viz. Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in the first and second years of graduation.

3.      In case of Honours Degree in any of the above mentioned three subjects, the candidate must have studied other two subjects in the first and second year of the course.

4.      Candidate should also have secured 50% marks in aggregate individually in all of these subjects during all the years of study.

5.      Candidate should have secured 50% marks in aggregate in the graduation degree also.

 

TGT(Social Studies)

 

1.     The candidate should have studied any of the two subjects out of the following subject combinations in graduation:

        a)  History with Geography/Economics/Political Science                 or

        b) Geography with History/Economics/Political Science

2.     History/Geography as above, should have been studied for all three years in the graduation.

3.     In case of Honours degree in History the candidate should have studied Geography/Economics/Political Science in first and second year.  Similarly, in case of Honours degree in Geography, the candidate should have      studied istory/Economics/Political Science in first and second year.        Candidates with B.A. (Honours) in Economics or Political Science are not       eligible for the post of TGT(Social Studies).

4.     Candidates should have secured 50% marks in aggregate individually in these subject during all the years of study.

5.     Candidate should have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in the graduation degree also.

Five years recognized Diploma in any discipline of fine arts such as Drawing/Painting/Sculpture/Graphic Arts/Crafts after passing secondary school examination (Class X) or equivalent.

Post Graduate Degree in Drawing and Painting, Fine Arts from a recognized University/Institution.

                                                           

(Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) after class XII will be considered as equivalent to Five Years Diploma in Fine Arts after class X).

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS 

 

(i)         B.Ed or equivalent teaching degree from recognized University.

(ii)        Working knowledge of English and Hindi or other Regional Lanugage(as per Regional Language option given in application form).

(iii)       Experience of working in a residential school.

           

MUSIC TEACHER

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

Five Years study in Music institution recognized by the concerned State Govt. as equivalent to Graduate/Post Graduate degree.

A Bachelor’s degree with Music from a recognized University and B.Ed.

                                                            OR

Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary with any one of the following:

Sangeet-Visharad examination of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Bombay or Bhatkhanda Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow or Indira kala Sangeet Vishwa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh(MP) or Sangeet Prabhakar examination of the Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.

Following Degree/Diploma awarded by Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh:

(a)        Sangeet Bhaskar with graduation in any discipline

(b)       Sangeet Nritya Bhusan with graduation in any discipline

LIBRARY SCIENCE

Eligibility of Applicants for PGTs, TGTs & Miscellaneous Categories of TGTs

 

The Cut-Off date for determining various eligibility criteria (Educational Qualifications, age limit etc.) will be 15.7.2005. Applicants must satisfy about their eligibility as on 15.7.2005 before applying.  

 

AGE RELAXATION

 

Relaxation in the upper age limit (as given against each category of post above), will be admissible as per rules.

2.                  Blind candidates will be provided with the assistance of guides at the respective Examination Centre who will assist them in the examination process. Such candidate must write clearly about their disability in the application form for making necessary arrangements.  An extra time of 30 minutes in each of the paper will be given to such candidates.

3.                  Candidates admitted to the examination will be sent an Admit Card permitting them to take examination. No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination hall without the Admit Card alongwith date sheet and specific instructions.

Objective type questions in concerned subject with multiple choice answers. For the post of TGT in Hindi and English all the questions will be in Hindi, and English respectively, on the subject matter. For all other the questions will be provided in one of the 13 Regional Languages, as mentioned in this advertisement.  Candidate will have to answer these questions in the language which he/she opts.  It is, therefore, compulsory that candidates must fill up the option of Regional Language in which they would like to appear for the Exam.  Difficulty level of question paper will be of Graduation Level.

(Subject Paper)

Descriptive Questions in concerned subject. The medium of examination will be English/Hindi. Difficulty level will be of Graduation level. A candidate appearing for the examination will have to answer the question paper either in Hindi or English.  Part-II of only those candidates will be evaluated who have secured minimum cut-off marks in Paper-I (General Paper) as well as in Paper-II Part-I (Language Proficiency-subject test).

5.                  The decision of the Samiti about the mode of selection to the above posts and eligibility conditions of the applicants for interview shall be final and binding.  No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

 

6.                  SCHEDULE FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION

Written examination for appointment to all the posts of PGTs & TGTs will tentatively be held in August, 2005.  Schedule of examination will be intimated with the Admit Card. Detailed examination schedule will be notified in the Employment News and on Samiti’s website www.navodaya.nic.in. Individual intimation for this purpose will not be sent.

 

HOW TO APPLY

  

1.                   Last date of receiving application is 15th July, 2005.

2.                   Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format published as Annexure to this advertisement.  If needed this format can be got photocopied, typed or printed on white paper of fullscape (size 21 cm X34 cm). The format given in the advertisement can also be used for application purposes.  All candidates must attach attested copies of their educational qualification certificates, mark-sheets & other certificates such as experience , OBC, SC & ST category certificates etc.  A recent photograph of the candidate must be pasted in the space provided. Only those OBC categories which are recognized by GOI will be considered for appointment under OBC category.

3.                   General candidates are not eligible to apply against this advertisement that these posts are meant for OBC, SC & ST candidates only.

4.                   For OBC category application must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of Rs. 250/-(Rupees Two hundred and fifty only) in the case of OBC candidates in the form of demand draft valid for 6 months (3 months in the case of locally drawn pay orders) in favour of “Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti” payable at Chandigarh. Application fee enclosed in the form of IPO/M.O./Crossed cheques/currency notes or treasury challan etc. will not be accepted. Such applications will be treated as having been received without application fee and will be summarily rejected.

5.                   No fee is required to be paid by candidates belonging to SC/ST/Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen categories.

6.                   A candidate cannot apply for more than one subject in each category of post i.e. a candidate is allowed only to apply for one post of PGT and/or one post in TGT.  Even if a candidate applies for more than one post in one group, though Admit Cards will be sent to him/her for all the post(s), he/she at best can appear only for one post in a group, since the exams are scheduled on the same date and time.  Thus his/her candidature for other posts will be cancelled automatically.

7.                   Envelope containing the duly filled in application and Demand Draft(wherever applicable) must be superscribed in bold letters as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF PGT or TGT (as the case may be) in_________________ subject.

8.                   Duly filled in application, complete in all respect must reach by ordinary post only, latest by  15th July, 2005 at the address given below:

9.                   NVS will not be responsible for any postal delay or non-receipt of application due to any reason.  Applications received after 15th July,2005 or incomplete in any respect or not accompanied with requisite application fee will be rejected.  No correspondence will be entertained in this regard and application fees will not be refunded.  No intimation regarding rejection of application will be sent to he candidates.

 

 GUIDELINES FOR FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORM

 

1.                  Corrections, if any, in the application form should be legible and signed by the candidate.

2.                  No request for change of subject or post or Centre of Exam originally indicated by the candidate in the application form shall be entertained by the Samit/Ed.CIL under any circumstances.

3.                  While filling information in boxes relating to Name, Address, Father’s name etc, one box should be left blank between the names/words.  All entries should be made by black pen in BLOCK LETTERS ONLY.

4.                  Blind candidates should clearly mention about the nature of their disability in relevant column of the application form so that arrangements for guide for them could be made in advance.

5.                  Applicants for the posts of TGT in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and for the post of Misc. Categories of TGTs viz. Art, PET, Music and Librarian, must indicate in the application form, name of the regional language, out of given option of Regional Languages, in which they would like to attempt Part-I of Paper-II.  Question paper will be provided only in that Regional Language which is mentioned in Column 16 of the Application Form.  In case this column is not filled up by applicants, the application of such candidate will be treated as application for Regional Language mentioned in Column 17 of application form, failing which for Hindi language, as a last resort.

For practical purposes, the post of PET has separate entity for male & female  and merit list will be prepared separately for male & female.  Mark the code carefully in the application form.

 

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

 

1.                  Those required to apply Through Proper Channel must act in such a manner that their applications are received from their employer well before the last date.  The advance copy sent by candidate must indicate in bold letters on the top of the application “ADVANCE COPY”.  The advance copy must accompany all desired documents, as mentioned above.  Such candidates may also note that in case a communication is received by the Samiti from applicant’s employer, withholding the candidate to appear in written test/interview, his /her application will be rejected and his/her candidature shall be cancelled.

2.                  Results of the written exam will be published in Employment News in due course.  No enquiry in this regard will be entertained by NVS.

3.                  Canvassing in any form will disqualify a candidate.

4.                  The Samiti may take up the verification of eligibility of the candidate at any point of time prior to or after the completion of the selection process.  Even if Admit Card is issued to a candidate by oversight or due to lack of information in the application form or otherwise and if it is found that the candidate is not eligible his/her candidature shall be summarily rejected.

5.                  Any dispute with regard to this recruitment will be subject to the court having its jurisdiction in Delhi only.

6.                  The Samiti may, at its discretion, hold re-examination as and when necessary in case need arises for the same.  In such an eventuality, candidate will have to appear for such re-examination at his/her own cost.

7.                  No TA etc. will be paid for appearing in the written test.

8.                  Selected candidates are liable to be posted any where in India.  However, for appointment to the post of TGTs (other than TGT (Hindi & English), the candidates are likely to be posted in the same State where the concerned regional language opted by the candidate is spoken.

9.                  Selected candidates will initially be on probation for a period of two years, which can be extended at the discretion of the Competent Authority.

10.              Qualifications acquired by the candidates should be strictly in accordance with the prescribed qualifications. Any candidates seeking claim of equivalence of their qualifications with that of the notified one should furnish documentary evidence in support of their claim, otherwise such cases will be rejected.  Similarly, where grades have been given, the position of the mark-sheets showing equivalent percentage of marks should be attached.  As mentioned, in earlier paras, it is obligatory on the part of candidate to attach the certificates of qualifications as well as mark-sheets(separate mark-sheet  for each year) to determine their eligibility otherwise such cases will be rejected.  Similarly attested copies of caste certificate must be enclosed for relaxation in age/fee payment.  In the qualification column, a candidate must write the exact nomenclature of the course perused & all information must be filled up on factual basis(no round-off of marks permitted).

11.              In case of any discrepancy or variation in the translated version of this advertisement is found in Hindi or any other language, the text provided in the English version will be treated as final.
