OVERVIEW JNV KULGAM, J & K
Kashmir, known as paradise the “Paradise on Earth” throughout the world has scenic beauty par excellence. The snow covered glittering peaks, sprawling lush green pastures, lotus lakes, blue rivers, deodar forests, sky soaring Chinars are the divine gifts of nature to this God’s chosen land. Town Kulgam is situated at a distance of about 68 km from Srinagar and about 17 km from Anantnag. It has road connectivity with its neighboring districts like Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag and Ramban etc. and Town besides being linked with far flung areas of the District by a dependable road network. Besides places of spiritual interest the district has tourist spots like ‘’Ahrabal water fall’’ on Veshev Nallah which is a place of sight-seeing in the extreme south-west of district Kulgam. , Kongwattan and Gurwattan ahead of Ahrabal, Charenbal and Nandimarg high land pastures are also places of tourist attraction apart from virgin meadows in the area from Kund to Ladigasan (ahead of Aherbal clefts). The District also has super abundance of natural water resources in the shape of various famous springs such as, Kounsernag ( ahead of Aherbal ), Waseknag (Kund), Khee Nag( Khee Jogipora), etc.. JNV Kulgam was established in the year 2010 by NVS authorities, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, New Delhi. The vidyalaya was is running in rented buildings at kulgam town itself . It also witnessed unfortunate turmoil of fire incident in the termoil of 2016 in the valley in which the whole school buildings at village mirhama were gutted in fire, which adversely affected its pace of growth and development in every field. As a result of the strong commitment and tireless efforts of the officers of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Chandigarh and NVS, Head Quarter, New Delhi, this institution was finally shifted to its new temporary site at main town Kulgam in 2017. And the athorities are in search of its perminent site. Today classes 6th to 9th sits in the Academic block for regular classes. There is space and scope for CCA and other activities. . This Smart School is growing up year by year with the setting up of well equipped laboratories for different disciplines like Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and IT/Computer Science. Also there is a separate set up for miscellaneous things like Art, Music, Sports. CCE has been implemented in the vidyalaya as per the desires and norms of Min. of HRD, NVS and CBSE.
